    Picasa for Linux

Google launched Picasa for Linux on Google Labs. It incorporates nearly all the features of the current Windows version of Picasa, providing you with the tools you need to easily find, edit, and share the photos on your computer. And because it runs on a carefully tested version of Wine, Picasa avoids the slowing effects of an OS emulation or a virtual machine.

Yay! At last some Google software which works.

I hope this is a trend Google will start to follow.
Google Talk, Google Earth, and Google Sketchup are a few things I'd really like to see a Linux version of...

    EDIT:
I don't like the look of this:
Should work on any Linux system with Intel 386-compatible processor, glibc 2.3 or greater, and a working X11 display system.
I think I have an 686 AMD processor. Google says it requires an Intel 386 compatible processor.
    Will it work?

    UPDATE:
It installed it (apparently successfully), but when I try to run it, the Picasa program appears in the kicker, then it just disappears.

Well, I just hope that this is the first on many Google products that actually run on Linux.

    Picasa on LInux

I understand that Google has stopped adapting Picasa for linux. Look at the Wikipedia page for Picasa. Is this true? The latest version for Linux is 3.0 Beta. I gather on Windows the latest version is 3.6. It is very important to know whether Google has stopped development for Linux.

Given that 'Picasa for Linux' is merely a Picasa for Windows bundled with Windows emulator (I know, I know, Wine is not _really_ an emulator), you could just download the latest version of Picasa and run it with Wine yourself.

I haven't tested this, but I'd imagine that it works.

Picasa is an image organizer and image viewer for organizing and editing digital photos, plus an integrated photo-sharing website, originally created by Idealab and owned by Google since 2004. "Picasa" is a blend of the name of Spanish painter Pablo Picasso, the phrase mi casa for "my house" and "pic" for pictures (personalized art). In July 2004, Google acquired Picasa and began offering it as a free download.
Native applications for Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Mac OS X (Intel only) are available through Google Labs. For Linux, Google has bundled Wine with the Windows version to create an installation package rather than write a native Linux version. For Windows 98, Windows Me and Windows 2000, only an older version is available. There is also an iPhoto plugin or a stand-alone program for uploading photos available for Mac OS X 10.4 and later.
