Cool. Nice find.
This looks like it could be fun.
Well, I didn't know where to post this, so if its in the wrong place, sorry.
Google released a new beta this morning: Google Pages
It allows you to upload photos, and drag n drop items, a bunch of color schemes, and auto save and more.
However, I can't access any of it, the servers are very slow right now. I keep getting error messages saying that the page is locked by another user.
I'll post back as soon as I can make my own page.
But it looks like Google is one step closer to world domination...

As of right now (10:10 CST), Google is taking a waiting list request for this service.
I figured they might do that, as soon as they got some people in.
That's why I threw up a junk test page right away.
(I hope I can get back in to edit it later.)

What I find surprising is, I signed in, then it said they're no longer accepting applicants, blah blah. Then it asked me to input my email address. It should have that filled straight away, as why am I going to want to include a different email than the one already in my Google AccountIt just seems like some pointless extra thing to do.
Cool. This looks like it could become very promising, especially now that Google has obtained a large registered user base with Gmail, Personalized Search and Google IG. At least it will give people a very nice alternative to Yahoo! Geocities (which I find horrible). I'm on the waiting list and will let you guys know what I think when I get in.
My problem: Google: Tie it all together! Why can't I get a page that ties together my Gmail, RSS (reader), Blogger, Page Creator, etc.? Why can't I see ALL of my Google services and their settings on one page. Sure, this is a start, but it looks like it was created in 30 seconds on Front Page and doesn't tie in all of my Google services.
Does anyone think or hope that Blogger will eventually become or the technology will be redone to become Google Page Creator? Google having two content creation systems (three if you count Google Base) can be very confusing for consumers.

I've been in class all day, and just was able to make a page: my page
It's basic, and not too in-depth, I may or may not add to it.
I do agree though, it needs to be all integrated.
At least the Gmail and Google Page thing. This way you can upload lots of things.
The Google Reader is annoying, I don't like it too much, but it does the job.
I don't use Blogger, I have my own blog on my own server, same with my website, but the integration will probably come.
I can see in the near future certain users doing everything from Google, and by the near future, I mean this time next year.

Does Google Pages support AdSense?
no problem.Originally Posted by intelliot
i was actually wondering that too, cause id like to add some of my ads into it.
There is a way to edit html, so i dont see why one wouldnt be able to put the adsense code in.

Does anyone have a page created with Google Page Creator?
Yes. If you read the whole thread you would have seen it.Originally Posted by bamabound2007
Well, I guess I was a day late and a dollar short. I had posted this in the Webhosting forum since that is were it should be, but I am very excited about this. LOVE GOOGLE!!!!
P.S. Sorry for posting this in the "wrong" forum folks!![]()
It doesn't really offer web hosting though....I don't think it lets you upload your own files.Originally Posted by Albatross

It most certainly does, I will BRB with source...
Edit:SOURCEThe pages you create are hosted on Google servers and are available at http://yourgmailusername.googlepages.com for the world to see.
It isn't anything over the top as of yet, but it is Google's foot in the door, beyond Blogger.

Yes they're hosted, but it doesn't let you host your own files I don't think.Originally Posted by Albatross
Would you call a website which let you create some pages and put them in a subdomain of the company, and not let you host your own files or domain a hosting company? It's pretty limited in hosting capabilities...it's a bit like calling Blogger hosting - the blog is hosted, but that's about it.

I haven't had access to the service yet, but I would imagine that if they are letting you upload your images, and various other files in order to display them on the page, than yeah, I would call it web hosting. As I said in my previous post, it isn't anything hot or special as of yet, but it is a sign the Google is growing to provide a greater hosting service than they already have. Why else would they introduce this program? It is currently nothing more than a loose version of Blogger.
I am getting this:
Oops!
Google Page Creator is having a little trouble right now.
This is not because of anything you did; it's just a little hiccup in our system that will hopefully go away soon. We apologize for the inconvenience, and recommend you try reloading this page.
Every time i get there...
Ugh.

Also..... I think that you should create a sub-forum for Google Pages.
Seems like it could stir up a lot of talk... Just a suggestion to ponder.

i think the fault lies with me.
I posted this topic under google because its a new service by google.
And it really isnt a hosting service, you can upload images, and i just realized that you can upload files.
Either way, im sorry, i thought it was a google related service.
Anyway, i made another page (i have no free time anymore, wow) about lord xeon
And i asked them if it were possible to add google adsense into the pages, hopefully they will get back to me soon.
I do get the oops error sometimes.
And while making the other page, i got "this page has been locked by another user" i just clicked unlock, and it worked.
Sometimes, it says that it's not connected, and it cant save any of the progress, then it autosaves.
eh, this seems like a true beta.
i'd like to be able to see some stats for this page too, most likely from the google analytics which is alright with me, cause those give me everything my server gives me except IPs

Well, Google Pages is a Google related service because Google made it. But it has no involvement in improving the Google search which is what the first forum is some what about (Google search, Page Rank, etc.).
Either way, All of Google's services should go into this forum unless it has a forum created specifically for that service.
