Of course there are jobs out there doing SEO for Google. You can check out it out and you'll find a ton of companies providing Google specific SEO services. Take a look at topseos.com and you'll see a bunch of this companies.

Hey guys, this a pretty old thread. I bet the guy might be working for Google already , after nearly two years of looking for a job

I think having a SEO job in Google will be near impossible 'cause it's overly biased and I don't think Google will build a SEO company. It's gonna destroy their market reputation y'know?

I'd hate to break it to you but I don't think there are SEO jobs at Google.

Perhaps engineers to modify / improve upon the existing algorithm related to SEO

Not sure about that. But I'm sure, your head will start aching once they interview you. Google is quiet popular and I'm sure they do their best to screen the best people to work for them.

Just being an SEO wouldn't work, you have to manage hundreds and thousands of SEOs so think twice about it, it is not so easy task.

This is one of the most cheerful thread, If you want to become Google employee then you can search 'SEO Jobs in Google' and send your technical resume when resume will be short listed then HR department call you!

To answer your question, I'd start with learning capitalization of pronouns "i" -> "I".

Hello guys,
I don't know how to break it easy to you, but you have to realize that there are no SEO jobs in Google. There are jobs around the world that involve optimization of websites for G and other SE. But Google doesn't need SEO, it is the SE itself, and it doesn't offer services for companies to do better optimization.
Google is looking for analysts, developers, and engineers that will make the search engine(s) smarter - in respect less vulnerable to SEO team's manipulation, and smarter to bring most relevant and reputable SERPs to the searchers.
