Ideas from Google Groups:
rckHi! I've just subscribed to these groups here and browsed through older
topics. I haven't found what I'm about to write, sorry if I've
overlooked it.
I've successfully installed Google Desktop BETA on two Notebooks, both
had a flawless index run that ran in an reasonable amount of time.
Then, there's my desktop PC.
The indexing ran for a whole day, it was stuck at 81 %. On the next day
in the morning, after not using my PC over night, I got a dialog box
reading "Google Desktop has unexpectedly quit.". It also told me to
restart Google Desktop, without giving me a reason why it shut down in
the first place.
Since then (about two weeks now), I'm continuously restarting Google
Desktop because it gives me the mentioned dialog, without any apparent
success. The current status:
13% complete with about 18,1 idle hours left.
169.621 items indexed so far.
Yes, the percent decreased from 81 % down to 13 % without an appearant
reason either. Is there a way to make it index everything, running in
foreground? Is there some kind of log-file where I can look what caused
all the problems?
Thanks!
gdes... at gmail.comI have installed new version of GDS and I have these problems:
Instead of never-ending indexing of Gmail, after one hour or something
GDS always fell down and this error message is written: "Google Desktop
has unexpectedly quit. To restart, launch Google Desktop from Start
menu".
Anyone with same problem?
I have the same problem too! I don't get an error though, it just
flashes and sends itself behind other windows. I can see only a sliver
of it on my screen, and when I click on the very rightmost pixel, I can
see only the outline of it for dragging.> I love GDS2. But when I leave to go do something, when I come back it

It crashes all the time, most of it while indexing media files. More
specifically, I believe it doesn't like oggs or avis with ogg sound. (I
had an ogg directshow foo in the tray after every crash.)

I'll second that - definitely something to do with avis and I think
divx encoding for me.
