    Google Videos

    Hello,
    I was trying to see if Google Videos is capable of uploading videos. I looked for an Upload button like that on Google Docs and only saw Uploaded Videos. I clicked that and got this;

    Invalid request.

So, does anyone know if there is a way to use this feature to upload videos? It wouldn't make sense that you can upload documents in Google Docs, yet you can't do the same exact thing in Google Videos!

    Thanks for the help

    Hello again,

We are no longer offering uploads to Google Video. Since this is a big change for our site, we wanted to make sure we answered your questions about it.

    * Why did Google Video discontinue uploads? Is Google Video shutting down?

No, Google Video will continue to focus our mission on search and search technology. This move will allow Google Video to spend more time on technologies that make the information contained in online video more available and accessible, enabling users to search all kinds of videos across the web.
    * Does this change only apply to new and future accounts?

No, this change applies to all accounts.
    * If I currently have an account, can I still upload videos?

You won't be able to upload videos to Google Video, but Google will still offer hosting services. Your Google account will enable you to upload videos to Picasa and YouTube.
    * Will all of the videos in my Google Video account be deleted?

No. The videos that are already in your account will remain hosted by Google Video. You will still have access to all the existing management tools for them.
    * Do I need to notify Google Video that I want my videos to stay up?

You do not need to notify us. Your videos will remain on the site.
    * Can you transfer all of my videos to YouTube or Picasa?

While we encourage you to move your content, we are unable to transfer it for you.
    * I no longer have a copy of my original video files, can you send them to me?

Since Google Video recompresses uploaded videos, we don’t offer a way to download your originally uploaded file.

We suggest downloading the compressed version of your video from the site to keep as a copy. To do this, please visit your video's page and click the "Download" button in the upper-right corner.

If the "Download" button doesn’t appear, please follow the steps below to enable this option for your video.
    1. Sign into your Google Video account at https://upload.video.google.com/
    2. On the Video Status page, click the "Edit Video Info >>" link next to the video you wish to change.
    3. Click on "Advanced Options."
    4. Check the box beside "Allow users to download this video."
    5. When you’re finished editing your video's information, click the "Save Video Information" button at the bottom of the page.

Please note that updating the search index isn't instantaneous, and it may take some time before the changes appear on Google Video.
    * Does this change apply to Google Video for business, used by companies for private, secure video sharing?

No, it doesn't. Google Video for business is part of Google Apps Premier Edition, and it lets employees share video content with each other, like team updates and recordings of training sessions and guest speakers. Business users can continue to upload and share videos, and the service is actively being developed.

What I'm doing now is linking my Gmail account with my YouTube account. I did that following the directions from this link; http://hubpages.com/hub/how-to-upload-video-on-you-tube

The ability to download videos from Google is based on whether the person who uploaded the video allows it to be downloaded.
So you will see some videos that can be downloaded, some that are not.
