Please help!! I have had g-mail for years, dont have a comp at home, i access it from my phone. I received a message today saying it was not active and that i could have done something illegal and then they texted me a code to enter but i there was not a place to list this #.

There are quite a number of possibilities that you are getting this verification code from Google. Is this a new account? Or you are having problems with a pervious account? If it is a new account, Google sent you the verification code is to verify the phone number you entered is a real number. A second possibility is that, Gmail might be detecting that the IP address is different from your past login, Phone and computers have a very different IP. They are sending you that to ensure that your account is not being hacked. if you are unsure, you can always sent a contact mail to Google they will sort out things for you.

I think at first you create a new account and then try. if it doesnt go to the cyber cafe - the best option of all is that...

Actually i also found out that gmail has a lot of problem nowadays. Many spam messages, can't be able to log in when connection is low, a lot of bounce back emails etc. All this problem that i encounter in gmail that can do i yahoo and aol. Hope this will resolve soon.
I think you should go out for some internet cafe and active your gmail account and remember to send a mail or receive a mail with in 90 days.
