I don't think so I have seen sites that are really ugly with adsense on them.Uglyness is not stated in the adsense TOS

You have confidence with your website first then you should join with google adsense. If you want to make money online then read the terms adn conditions in Google ADsense.

Yep, the funds can be taken back if you forward them to someone else and it turns out there is a problem. If your that concerned about adding your bank account, DON"T USE PAYPAL.

Saying that, if you add a bank account, withdraw the funds and a disput/chargeback happens, PayPal can stop the transfer, but if it has completed, they can't go into your bank account to get the money. You account will remain negative, but if you have auto payment for ebay or someone else or you buy something, you have just given them permission to go to your bank account to resolve then negative balance.
