The e-mail accounts will end with @gmail.com.

Just try again later or even try restarting your computer.

German users aren't able to use gmail.com - they have to use googlemail.com. "gmail" is in Germany a brand name, so gmail.com isn't available since 05-07-2005. See http://www.heise.de/english/newsticker/news/61419 for further informations.

That's the first time I've heard of this German trademark issue. I think I'll research this some more.

    You did it again!

    Hey c[o]ast and Tim2611,
You cleared the mystery up for wanjilu! It's quite amazing that in Germany @gmail.com is actually @googlemail.com because it's trademarked! Let me tell you what I already told Tim2611 when he solved "The Mystery of Deleted Items and Trash" -

    I thank you again.
Well, I think you deserve all this.

But it's possible to register and get a "gmail"-account when you are located in germany: use a proxy.

    Worked for me.

    Yeah...

Yeah... you can try, wanjilu. I believe what Marcus said is right. You can use a proxy.

I spent quite a while to find a free webproxy that worked with the gmail-register-thingy.

    Hmm...

Marcus, I was wondering if you could mention the proxy you found...

P.S. This is not only for my benefit but also for the benefit of everybody else on this topic/discussion.
