Check yoru HOSTS file and make sure that it's cleared out.
I can't even open gmail at all. I can't access the login page or anything. I've cleared my cache, I have no firewall, I've used like 5 different browsers, changed my security settings, changed my proxy settings, nothing. Anytime I try to open http://www.google.com/gmail or http://gmail.google.com/ I get "Error 404 - the web page you have requested cannot be found" It's embarassing having to access my E-mail from other people's computers. Please help me.
PS
Sorry if this question has been posted before, looked but could only find messages with similar problems, not the same problem.
Check yoru HOSTS file and make sure that it's cleared out.
I've had the same exact problem for the past few days. Gmail was working fine, didn't do anything to my computer/connection, now I can't get in at all, from home or work.Originally Posted by jamesdfraser
I've been researching, seems like some people have had this problem for a few days to a week. Hopefully it will clear up on its own. I've written gmail 3 times with no repsonse back yet.
Give them time since it can take them up to 5 days to weeks to reply. Try using a different browser, restart the Computer, Restart the broadband modem, clear the DNS cache, and check your HOSTS file.Originally Posted by cwg25
wouldn't those things be worthless to try since I can log into my other gmail account with no problem?Originally Posted by Lupine1647
thanks anyways!
No this is definitely on my end, I've had this problem for like 2 months now. I've restarted my modem and computer and everything.
Where is the HOSTS file?
I just signed up this pm for gmail and am unable to access it. I am able to get into the gmail page, but unable to login. It tells me I have not entered my password correctly...Anyone with suggestions? Thanks Linda linda-l-lamb@nc.rrcom
Try using the forgotten password feature.Originally Posted by Triple L

It's just clearing it out because you have Spyware on your system.Originally Posted by cwg25
I feel like blowing up Microsoft right now.
Ok, how do you clear it out?Originally Posted by Lupine1647

I have and have run ad-aware, MS anti-spyware, spybot, mcafee stuff, etc. I deleted all cookies and temp files.
I can get into one of my other gmail account with no problem. It's just my main gmail account I have trouble with, can't login from home or work, I get this message:
"Server Error
Gmail is temporarily unavailable. Cross your fingers and try again in a few minutes. We're sorry for the inconvenience."
cwg25, that's a different problem. You can get to GMail, just that you need to e-mail Google about it![]()
Well after 5 days, my gmail account has mysterously returned. I sent them 3 emails over the past week and found the unhelpful responses in my account this morning.
At least its back...
sometimes you just have to wait I guess, I tried all of the advice in this thread and others.
