There is confusion and categorisation paid vs unpaid registering through msn etc.
Gmail has new competition: Apparently Hotmail is offering 2GB of space if you register with an @msn.com email address.

Yeah, I agree with cvrk3. And if that fact was true, I'm sure they'll fix the hole in a very near future...
boss, gmail is gmail.
yea i hate msn, and hotmail, thats why i chose not to get verizon dsl and pay to get adelphia to run some wires down my rode so i could get cabel ineternet![]()
I just tried it, twice, with both methods. I got 2 MB in both instances - not even 25 MB or 250 MB. Also, there is a bug in their system I will be posting in my blog about later.
Anyway, Gmail is still the best, not because of the storage limit, but because of the awesome search feature and keyboard shortcuts!
Agreed, intelliot.
Also, 2G isn't anything when it gets filled up with spam. <_<
I doubt that hotmail will fix _that_ bug anytime soon.
i agree with intelliot. it is the features that attracts me in the gmail. but still there are improvements needed. There are two postive indicators on g mail service:
1. it is really fast.
2. it is innovative.
I'd think that gmail would be better (I'm not totally sure, but from what I've seen) because the fast user-interface and hotmail takes a while to load up compared to gmail. Although hotmail can use POP3 access such as Outlook Express, but I'd rather have g-mail.
there will be lot of improvements in gmail when it is opened to public. now it is only in beta version.
They're even doing improvements now; for example, since July 14:
# Import Contacts
You've made a list. You've checked it twice. Now you never have to check it again. Move all your contacts from Yahoo! Mail, Outlook, and others to Gmail in just a few clicks. Then simply rely on our auto-complete feature to fill in your addresses as you're typing. Keep all your contacts in one place and keep in touch with all of them using Gmail.
# Signature options
From the settings page, create a signature that's automatically added to the end of all your outgoing messages. Change it as often as you like, but always get the last word.
# Safari browser support
Everybody's gone surfin'… now Mac OS X's Safari is surfing Gmail as well (versions 1.2.1 and newer).
Yeah, it seems little by little they are adding new things.
We tend to forget this is a beta, and users are betatesters (with all the things that word implies).
but the improvements seems to be slow. either they should give more invites or they should make the improvments fast the relese to the public> it also makes sense that the google continues the policy of invite in gmail also.
yeah, msn fixed that bug.
Google is hosted on some of the fastest computers in the world, and place relevant ads according to you. Msn is a division of microsoft and is crammed with spyware and spam. So, they have 2 gigs. They never intended it, just some editor accidentially wrote they had 2 gigs on the WWW. Do you think msn would actually be nice to it's users?
one more microsoft basher![]()
I have not had my 2gb taken away by craposoft. I registered w/ an @msn through the old msn explorer and have had it since. Gmail still kicks more ass in the longrun though.
Yea, Gmail may be the best, but i switch back to hotmail because of my PDA! ( and im on a google site, shame on me!)Originally Posted by intelliot
hot mail is very slow and unpredictable. i will stick with gmail.
