Google Community Rules, April 2010 Revision

Before registering and/or posting on the Google Community Forums (GC), you must agree to all of the following rules. We reserve the right to modify these rules from time to time without notice. Please review them periodically to be aware of any changes.

    Be friendly and kind
Posts and/or PMs deemed unfriendly or inappropriate by the staff may result in an immediate ban. Do not reply to inappropriate content. Instead, please use the Report Post button to bring the post to our attention. Abusive or offensive messages are not allowed.

    Think before posting a question
Check to see if your question has already been answered by using the GC Search function. To keep the discussion environment useful for everyone, ensure that your question follows these guidelines.

    No spamming
Do not spam or intentionally reply to yourself (double posting or sockpuppeting). We reserve the right to delete any posts we consider to be spam.

    No advertising
Advertisements are allowed only in the appropriate forums or by the approval of the GC staff. Members may not publish information regarding products or services with which they are associated.

The exception to this is in your signature, where website promotion is allowed when done in compliance with the signature rules.

Members may not solicit members for any project or purpose external to this forum without the permission of the staff. If you have any question regarding this, please contact a staff member.

Members may discuss details about their company when requested, but no additional promotions may be added. If in doubt, contact the staff first.

    No referral links
Referral links are not allowed. If you came to this community to push your referral link, look elsewhere. Breaking this rule may result in a ban.

Affiliate links are usually a type of referral link and are therefore not allowed.

    No cross-posting
Post a message only once in one forum. Do not attempt to post the same message in multiple forums. They'll be deleted and you may be banned.

    No warez nor illegal content
Please do not post or request serials, keygens, cracks, nor anything else which may be illegal. Doing so may result in an immediate ban.

    No flaming or trolling
This is not allowed in any section of the forums. We advise avoiding political and religious topics because they often lead to flame wars. There is no place here for racism or fascism. Offenders may be banned.

    No binary or ASCII posts
Posting in Binary, ASCII or any other code will be considered the same way as links to illegal cracks or FTP servers. Post on these forums in English only, unless the particular forum states otherwise.

    Don't type in all caps
This represents shouting and is not necessary. Consider using your words to express emotion. Punctuation marks, used appropriately, are allowed. Furthermore, smilies are provided, and we suggest using them to show facial expressions.

    Use proper grammar and spelling
Check your spelling before submitting a post. Firefox 2.0 (or higher) is recommended for, among other features, its built-in spell checker. As much as possible, use correct spelling and grammar when posting. For example, use you instead of u.

    Quoting other people or sources
Quotes must be placed within [ quote ] and [ /quote ] tags. Unless the source explicitly does not require it, you must always cite your sources.

    One (1) account per person
To prevent users from changing their identities or causing misunderstandings, please register only one (1) account.

If you register more than one account, all of your accounts may be banned along with your IP address(es). Do not attempt to get around this rule.

If you wish to change your username, send a request (along with your reason) to the Administrator.

If you have forgotten your password, use the forum's I forgot my password feature.

    Use your own account
Do not post from another person's account unless you were given specific permission by a staff member. Do not allow others to post from your account, as your account may be banned for their actions.

    Do not impersonate another member
Be yourself. Any attempt to be someone else may result in a permanent ban.

    No malicious attacks
Any organizing of attacks against another person or person's property, including web hosting servers and personal computers, will not be tolerated. This may result in a permanent ban.

    No adult content
This is strictly forbidden. We have members of all ages. Posts which are deemed to be adult in nature may be immediately deleted.

    Image Posting
    Max Size: 250 x 500 pixels
Preferred file types: jpeg, gif, and png
    Dynamic images: discouraged
Image size: please optimize for web viewing

Use standard BBCode tags for images. Images are best posted as clickable thumbnails. Keep images reasonable.

    Avatars
    Max size: 80 x 80 pixels, 12 KB

Keep avatars reasonable. Animated avatars are not allowed.

    Signatures
Max size: 2 lines of text.
    No links.
If you are a established member of the community with high quality posts, then you can send a request to the ADMIN to have link(s) in your signature.
If the signature forces anyone to scroll horizontally, it is not allowed. Your signature must be set in your profile. Your signature is your signature: it cannot be made for sale or for rent. You cannot manually append it to the end of your messages. Keep it reasonable.

    Do not complain
If your post is edited, moved, or deleted by a staff member, please accept their decision. Please do not reverse changes made by the staff. If your signature or avatar is removed, it was violating the forum rules.

Although you're not allowed to complain about the forum rules, you are encouraged to offer corrections and suggestions. Please contact a staff member.

    Zero tolerance
You may be banned from the forums for any offense. To avoid being banned, follow the above rules.

If in doubt about any of the above, please ask a staff member.

    Thanks, and enjoy the forums!
