    Android OS Phones

I hope this forum section starts to get busier. I think Android OS phones will grow rapidly in 2010. I know three people who bought one this past week.

I agree, it's the only other platform (than Iphone) with any credibility at all.

I second that. Apple's obsession with controlling every little detail (primarily in the App-store) will surely punish them in the long-run. And this is coming from a long-time Apple fan-boy.

As a iPhone user i find it a great device but then again i had a old phone before it for years on end this is the first Updated phone i have had in years but i will agree on too much control over iPhones contents and the restrictions in different country's is out of this world. i think UK are still waiting for their ring tones well the ones that are not jail-broken which would be most of them for that reason.

the one stop stop apple store is good that everything is in the one location but it can not be manged to the extent that people want and the loss of sole trading online shops is a little disappointing that i can not set up my own shop and get my piece of the pie but i guess they are protecting their property. Everyone got them for the reason it was popular and it was the in thing atm which really i got it for the same reason and paid off from being such a entertaining device

but with the new windows phone and android phone being released now i am kicking myself for not waiting but with a 2 year contract i won't be updating for a while.

I have a DROID. And I must say this phone is very addicting, I have used (not owned) an iPhone and it is a big difference. DROID has many things over the iPhone only part the iPhone wins on is the quality of the Camera focus. That is something Google has to update one day.

I have a Motorola Cliq, just wish the onboard memory was more than 256 MB, huge downfall filled it in 3 weeks, now I have to decide which apps are more important to me.

I have an old phone and I want to buy me a new one for my birthday. How much is an OS Phone and what advantages it has (compared to a iPhone let’s say?). I am not so good with gadgets so if you could explain it more like “for dummies” style…

I would chose the first option, because it is free, but it does not fit me, because I always use gmail.
    Cell Phone

So you say to go for iPhone? I was having the impression that I would be encouraged to go for Android especially since it is a Google forum. Any other hints/tips?

Based in an article I've read in USAtoday.com, Android is number 1 OS now in smartphones.
